Come join your friends at a Labor Day Farewell to summer. We will have games and music and a giant pool full of water. What more could you really want!
One of our member bands "A Band Named Sue" will be joining us! They will be playing their hits you know and love like "I left my swimsuit in the trunk of the car for a month so I had to burn it" and "Thank God the kids are back to school."
Fun starts at 5:00 or whenever. Artists are temperamental....
Summer is packing it in and letting autumn take over. And like the leaves on the trees, the pool's hours begin to change.
We've heard loud and clear that you still need a place to get your kids tired, get your drink on and get you H2O fix after school starts. So we are adding September weekend hours to ensure you get your fix.

Most AK board meetings are usually not too interesting. Lots of math, complaining and drinking.
But the August meeting is where the magic happens! Here's why!
That's right. We'd love you to come. This is your club and we want you to understand what it takes to keep it amazing. Seating will be under the cabana and it's pretty informal. Please bring drinks. You will not be allowed to stay if you are not keeping up with the board - shot for shot. (kidding. sorta)
This is our chance to run through our finances, plans and operating issues with everyone. This is the sausage making part of the club, but this is how it happens. If you want to hear all the details and dispel urban legends that the pool is secretly owned by one of the board members who is also a lizard person who lives under DIA, here's your shot.
Plus we can tell you in person why we don't have healthier snacks at the snack shack - a question we get just about every day. Answer: We would throw away 75% of the snacks as they would go bad. Resulting in a banana costing you $5. Economics is a bitch.
Our by-laws require that each board member run for re-election every 3 years. So each year, several board members cycle off and you can nominate your wife or neighbor or your neighbor's wife to a board seat. Meaning, if you want to join the board, this is your shot. We hold elections right after nominations and that's it!
Note that on election night, winning candidates are elected to the board - but not to a board position. The newly elected board will meet in October to elect key positions - like President, etc, at the next meeting. Very "Robert's Rule" of us :)
You've read this far! You're still interested? Don't want to watch another episode of "Mutant Ninja Warrior" on Monday night? Here are the meeting details.

Some of the highlights from our July painting event! (no turtles were harmed in the production of these works of art)
Today's friendly pool reminder is related to the complex nature of our solar system, the angle of our Earth's axis and the summer solstice. These three things together bring us....shorter days.
Yes, since about June 20th our hours of sunlight have been decreasing by about two minutes per day. This means it's getting harder and harder to see the pool later into the night.
For your safety, our guards will close the water earlier and earlier each night throughout the remainder of the summer. The guards cannot see the bottom of the pool when it's too dark and if you're down there too long looking for your sobriety, sanity or bottle opener, we can't help.
Hugs and stuff!
